A letter to my Foster Carer: Dear Foster Carer…

Dear foster carer,

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for everything that you do. As a child in foster care, sometimes it’s hard to find the right words to convey how much your support means to me. Thank you for opening your hearts and homes. It takes a special kind of person to welcome someone into their family and provide them with love, care, and stability.

Your kindness and generosity have made a significant impact on my life, and I will always be grateful for the safe haven you’ve provided.

Living in foster care can be challenging at times. There are moments when I feel lost, confused, or alone. But knowing that I have you by my side gives me strength and hope for a brighter future.

Your guidance and patience have helped me navigate through difficult times, and your support has reminded me that I am not alone in this journey.

I want you to know that your efforts do not go unnoticed. Whether it’s helping me with homework, attending school events, or simply listening to my thoughts and feelings, your presence in my life has made all the difference.

You have taught me valuable life lessons and instilled in me a sense of resilience and determination that I will carry with me always.

Please know that even on the toughest days, you are making a difference. Your love and compassion have the power to change lives, and you have certainly changed mine for the better.

I may not always say it, but I am grateful for everything you do.

Thank you for being my foster carers, my advocates, and my champions. Your kindness and dedication have given me a sense of belonging and hope for a better tomorrow.

Could You Be a Foster Parent?

The shortage of foster carers in the UK greatly affects vulnerable children.

This can result in children being placed far from their loved ones and being separated from their siblings, as well as their school and friends.

Did you know that historically, 70-80% of foster placements have been within 20 miles of the child’s home? While this benefits many children who can maintain their school and friendship groups, it also means that 20-30% of placements are further away.

For children coming to live with our foster families at an average age of 10, a change of school is often inevitable. However, we are dedicated to finding families in local areas with high demand to minimise disruptions.

If you live in the Northwest or the Midlands and are interested in exploring becoming a foster carer, we are here to support you every step of the way.
