So you’ve packed away those decorations, had a good clean up, and started to think about your new year’s resolutions?
“New Year, New You!”
It’s certainly that time again when we start to look at ourselves and think about our hopes and dreams for the year ahead.
Some of us want to be healthier, lose some weight, stop smoking, visit the gym more often, spend more time with family, or even work more from home.
Perhaps job hunting for a new role is on your mind, but what if your next role isn’t in an office, shop, or factory? What if it started right in your own home?
As a foster carer you earn an income (up to £520/week per child) which could allow you to reduce your working hours, or even leave your current role altogether. You could enjoy the work life balance you have always wanted, spend more quality time with your loved ones, and be more active, all whilst improving a child’s life.
Why not make 2022 the year you start fostering?
Why Foster in 2022?
Foster carers support some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK.
As a foster carer you can make a lasting bond, be an advocate, be a mentor, teach life skills…the list of reasons goes on.
Being a foster parent is challenging, but also highly rewarding. This is a career in which you can truly influence the future of children and young people who desperately need your support.
Right now, there is a particular need for carers who can look after:
- Sibling groups
- Older children (aged 8-16)
- Children with complex needs and disabilities
We know that foster families come in all different shapes and sizes, so this is not an exhaustive list. Last year, there were 57,380 children in foster care and the numbers have been growing steadily.
Sadly, the rate of children coming into care is faster than the rate of new foster carers being approved. The Fostering Network estimates a shortage of 8,000 foster carers over the next 12-months. Don’t delay, get in touch for a no-obligation chat today.
Who are Family Care?
We are a family-owned fostering agency with over 30 years’ experience looking after children and young people.
With Family Care, foster parents benefit from unrivalled support packages, regular peer group support meetings, and an extensive training programme to name just a few benefits.
Our child-focused approach and emphasis on carer support helps us stand out from the crowd. We exist to change children’s lives, why not join the team?
Do I qualify?
Some people think they can’t foster because they are single, or think they need special qualifications. Some think they don’t have time, or they can’t afford it.
This isn’t necessarily true.
Providing you have a spare bedroom and a passion for working with children, you could become a foster carer. The requirements to apply to foster in the UK are:
- You must be over 21 years old
- Have British Citizenship or indefinite leave to remain in the UK
- Have a spare bedroom
If you tick all three boxes and you are in reasonably good health, then we would love to hear from you.
How do I enquire?
The first step on the foster carer journey is to make an enquiry. We hear from many people who have been thinking about fostering for years, and when they eventually do get in touch they wonder why they left it so long!
Pick up the phone and give us a call, there is no obligation for anything more than a chat.
Call us on 0800 5 677677 and we will be happy to help you. Or if you prefer, you can enquire online and we will get in touch: https://family-care.co.uk/enquire-to-foster/
We understand that every enquiry is unique, rest assured we will do our upmost to support and guide you every step of the way.
So just a quick recap. When considering a New Year’s resolution this year, Family Care urges you to think about the massive difference you could make to the life of a young person in 2022 and beyond.
