Sarah celebrates 15 year milestone with Family Care

Sarah Earing, head teacher at Access School, celebrates 15-year milestone with Family Care Group. Read about her journey!
Sarah Earing
Family Care's Sarah Earing is celebrating a landmark 15 years with the company, an whirlwind period which has seen her go from a teacher of art, history and music to her current role as Head of Education.

During that time, Sarah has played an active role in developing Family Care's educational arm from just one school teaching less than 12 pupils to three schools teaching over 60 children across the combined sites. It has also seen Sarah herself in various roles during that time, including Lead Teacher, Senco, Head of Teaching, right through to her present role.

During that time, Sarah feels what has driven her the most is Family Care's continuous child-focused approach and its genuine desire to heal pasts and build positive futures for young people.

Sarah comments: "Fifteen years at Family Care has gone very quickly, and I think what has kept me at the company is the fact that the company is still family-owned with a real child-centred approach. Therapeutic care runs throughout every aspect of the company, which means our approach is not just lip service."
She adds: "By far the favourite part of my job is ensuring that our pupils become the best they can be and secure successful outcomes. Many of our young people join us having missed a lot of school and have a real dislike of education. It is amazing to watch our pupils become comfortable in a school setting, build positive relationships and actually enjoy education."
Sarah has also valued her own personal development at Family Care and the opportunity it has given her to make a real impact.
She adds, "I think my proudest achievement during my time so far has been developing Family Care Education from its initial one school to three schools and the much larger number of pupils we now teach as a result.
"Having the opportunity to do things like this is personally so satisfying while also ensuring the best outcomes for our young people at all times."

Real stories, real impact

Before fostering we worked full time. I worked for a global company and Damian worked as a manager for a truck parts company. In addition, we also ran a children’s club for 9 years at a local church we attended near a local council estate.
