How your allowance is broken down

Our carers fostering allowance is broken down into two parts: a boarding-out fee and a professional fee.

Boarding-out Fee

The boarding-out fee is paid to cover the daily costs of caring for a young person and is based on the government's national minimum rates. This includes everything from activities and hobbies, transport, family time and health appointments, to pocket money and savings.

Professional Fee

Our professional fee is the amount paid to you, recognising the work you are doing to support the young person in your care.

Real stories, real impact

Before fostering we worked full time. I worked for a global company and Damian worked as a manager for a truck parts company. In addition, we also ran a children’s club for 9 years at a local church we attended near a local council estate.
